The first assignment that Sandi Vito handled and the one that has earned her a lot of recognition by international bodies was the workforce development systems project. She was appointed to be the Deputy Secretary of the Workforce Development department at a time when this department was experiencing some challenges that hindered its performance. During this time, Sandi Vito was able to introduce the first ever extended training and career building efforts that went beyond companies owned by individuals to other companies in certain industries. She was able to implement this by the help of regional partners who also shared the same enthusiasm that was the driving force of the project. With her help the state has been able to see to it that over 6,000 businesses were started and this means that more people got jobs. Furthermore, all the workers who took advantage of the training and career building programs they have been able to experience increased income and wages from the first year that the program was implemented.
